Ikerbasque, the Basque Foundation for Science was created in 2007 by the Basque Government to strengthen the Basque Science System through programmers to attract and consolidate researchers as well as the dynamisation of research.
Ikerbasque hires permanent researchers and young promising research leaders, who are working in the universities and research centres of the Basque Country, and who have published over 9,000 articles in indexed journals and have obtained more than 235 million euros for research projects. These resources are used to foster research in Euskadi by hiring researchers of all levels and investing in equipment and infraestructures.
