Group Leader at EHU Quantum Center

The EHU Quantum Center, a research center at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) together with Ikerbasque, the Basque foundation for science, invites applications for a Group Leader position at the Applied Quantum Sensing Laboratory.

We are seeking senior candidates with a robust background in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering, coupled with extensive experimental experience in both classical and quantum sensing.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sensor technology, particularly in developing and implementing innovative quantum sensing solutions, as well as a thorough understanding of the enabling technologies associated with the implementation of quantum sensors (photonics, microwave techniques, data acquisition and processing…).

Key Qualifications:

  • Academic Background: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Research Excellence: Demonstrated excellence in research within the fields of classical and quantum sensing, illustrated by influential publications and a strong citation record.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead research teams, manage large-scale projects, and mentor junior researchers, including graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Industrial Collaboration: Significant experience collaborating with industry partners and managing projects funded by European programs or other major external sources.

Responsibilities:

  • Research Program: Design and set up the EHU Quantum Center Applied Quantum Sensing Laboratory, develop and lead an internationally recognized research program in applied quantum sensing.
  • Collaboration: Build and sustain collaborations both within the EHU Quantum Center and with external partners, including academia, industry, and governmental bodies.
  • Technology Transfer: Engage in activities that facilitate the transfer of technology from the lab to real-world applications, ensuring that research outcomes have a tangible impact.
